Okay, a bit about me, I’m mid 40s, 6’2” & double the mass I should be after 25 years of being “Married w/ Children”! In 1985 I was 185 LB.s but the years of working all day, going to school nights, trying to raise 2 ornery boys, eating out all the time, etc etc have not been kind! I actually wrote both my AAS & BAS college psych papers about the negative effects of stress on the human body! I was born & raised in a small Indiana town in the great white north centered between Chicago , Detroit & Indianapolis . Relo’d to the Memphis area spring ’07 & here we go!
Anyhow, December 2009 I finished my Master’s, in May 2010 I started a new job, now it’s time to make the rest of this life a healthy adventure! I’ve been informally doing the high protein / low carb deal for a while, weight training to add fat burning muscle but last summer the gym trainer said I HAD to get into cardio if I wanted to lose weight since my training was only focused on adding muscle. I bought a refurb’d Precor bike for home and have started pedaling away my evenings & am finally getting to where I can do it without numbness & pain LOL! I’ve been really active on the BodyBuilding.com boards for a couple years & recently / finally got into Facebook, but not tooo much LOL.
I Blog almost daily on bodybuilding.com but that’s mostly focused on diet & training so maybe this’ll prove a good outlet for me to sort through the rest of this train wreck I call life. Come on along for the ride! I’ve been told I tend to be amusing anyhow! One thing I will warn y’all of (yes the southernisms are rubbing off on me here) I am me. I HATE plastic people. If you can’t be yourself, give honest input, or voice your opinion rather than that of others do us both a favor & don’t waste your time or mine! I love & welcome honest open feedback, even if it hurts sometimes. I don’t get into politics but if you must know I lean a pretty good distance to the right. I’m not a hardcore Bible thumper but I was raised as a Christian, in a Baptist family & I do believe. I’m not a hardcore predestinationst either. I believe God has a plan but through free will allows us to deviate from it if we so chose. I do also however believe He always has a detour route available to allow us to find our way back to His plan if we’re willing to seek it out.
The Griz moniker came over time but fits my personality pretty well. I’m mostly easy going, happy go lucky, with a fairly long fuse regarding MOST things but if you've managed to step on that one last raw nerve, or lash out at those I hold dearest…you will end up with claw marks on your soul!
That’s enough for today…this tale has a long beginning in order for the current chapter to make a freaking bit of sense but I’m best taken in small to medium doses LOL!
